Transform your classic grilled cheese sandwich into a crispy, golden delight using an air fryer. This method ensures a perfectly melted cheese center with a crunchy exterior.
Ingredients
- 2 slices Bread White, Sourdough, or Texas Toast
- 2 slices Cheese Cheddar, or your preferred melting blend
- 1 tablespoon Butter completely softened (can substitute with mayonnaise)
Instructions
-
Preheat: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
-
Prep the Bread: Using a butter knife, spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread, making sure to spread it all the way to the edges.
-
Assemble: Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, on a clean cutting board. Layer your cheese slices evenly over the bread. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up. (Tip: Secure the center of the sandwich with a wooden toothpick to prevent the top bread from flying off in the air fryer).
-
Air Fry: Carefully place the assembled sandwich into the preheated air fryer basket.
-
Cook and Flip: Cook for 5 minutes. Open the basket, carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula, and cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, or until the exterior is deeply golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
-
Serve: Remove from the air fryer, remove the toothpick, slice diagonally, and serve immediately!
